View allThe story of the 2? Building in Raum District, Mumyeong City
On the very edge of Raum District, on the outskirts of Mumyeong City, stands the 2? Building.
Of course, the building's real name is 'Unknown Building,' but the residents of Mumyeong City usually call it the 2? Building.
The reason is simple: the exact number of floors has never once been publicly confirmed.
Mumyeong City sits in mountainous terrain, so it gets an unusual amount of rain and fog. Because of this, tall buildings are often shrouded in mist. But the Unknown Building is peculiar — thick fog clings to it 365 days a year. So while everyone knows it has at least 20 floors, the exact number remains invisible behind the fog.
The first ten floors house ordinary commercial shops. Beyond that, all anyone knows is that some company has leased the rest of the building in its entirety. The elevators stop at the tenth floor, and from the eleventh up, you apparently need some other way to ascend.
A few brave journalists tried to investigate, but each one went missing, so nobody tries anymore. There are vague rumors that it might be a foreign company, but even that isn't confirmed. Nobody is ever seen coming or going. Occasionally, a few people in hazmat suits come and go from the Unknown Building, but whether they're employees is anyone's guess.
Local kids have tried sneaking in a few times to count the floors, but a terrifying security guard always blocks them at the entrance.
That's why there's even a running joke in Mumyeong City: 'Only God knows how many floors the Unknown Building has.'
If you ever visit Mumyeong City, look for the Unknown Building.
If you're lucky, on a clear day you might just be able to count how many floors it really has.
